About Flax Flowering Plants: Flax plants are one of the best flowering plants in the family of Linaceae. The common name is linseed, and it’s native to Egypt. Flax seeds are editable, and it has lots of benefits. The scientific name is Linum usitatissimum, and it belongs to the Linaceae family.

Plants have different types of flowers like red, blue, yellow, and white, and flower colours depend on the verities. Over time, flowers grow up to 1 to 2 inches with a spread of 2 inches. Flax plants grow up to 3 to 5 feet tall and spread up to several feet. The best verity of the flax plant is blue flowering verify because it’s easily grown in normal garden soil.

How to Plant Seeds at Home & Garden: It’s simple to plant flax seeds at home and garden. Take out the seeds, which are brown in colour, and the size seeds are 2 to 4 mm long. Seeds are similar to sunflowers seeds. Please take out the seeds and keep them in water (overnight). Remove seeds from the water and clean with any tissue paper or cotton wear.

Prepare a soil potting: To make a good quality soil mixture, take normal garden soil (70%) with any compost (30%). Mix it well. Take out the large flowerpot (size should be 10 to 12 inches with a depth of 6 inches).

  • Fill the soil mixture into the flowerpot.
  • Push the soil mixture with your hand (removed soil air).
  • Take out the seeds and spray on the soil potting. In a single flower pot, do not spray too many seeds.
  • Cover the seeds with soil mixture (do not add too much soil).
  • Give water properly and place the flowerpot in an indoor location.

Within 2 to 3 weeks of the plantation, flax seeds start to germinate, and new leaves and stems appear from the seeds. The stems are white in colour, and the leaves are green. If plants grow up to 6 to 7 inches tall hen, it’s time to transplant them with another flowerpot.

Remember: USDA hardiness zone should be 4-8, and the soil mixture should be slightly acidic to neutral. In a flowerpot, make sure drainage holes are available or not. If there are no holes at the surface, then make 5 to 9 holes (Drainage holes are necessary). Cover the holes with a grenade or stones. Use a clay flowerpot. The distance between the seeds should be 2 to 5 cm.

Transplantation: For transplanting a plant, remove all plants in an old flowerpot. While removing plants from old flowerpots, roots should not break. Take out well-drained garden soil (60%), compost (25%), and perlite or sterling fertilizer (15%). Mix it well and take 6-6-inches flowerpot and garden site.

  • Fill the soil into the flowerpot and dig a hole (2 to 3 inches deep).
  • Plant each plant in those holes and cover the rooting system with soil.
  • Place the flowerpot in the full sunlight.
  • Within 5 to 7 days, new leaves and stems begin to transplant plants.

  • Watering: Don’t give water before the germination of seeds and after the germination of seeds, give some water. During the summer and winter seasons, always maintain the moisture in the soil.
  • Temperature: Place the plants in full sunlight because flax flower plants give good results in full sunlight. Recommended temperature is 15 to 25.
  • Best Fertilizer for flowering: For plant growth, give NPK 23-1-1 Fertilizer, and best Fertilizer for flowering, you can give perlite manure.
  • Pests & Diseases: Over time, lots of insects and diseases attack the plants, so don’t forget to spray pesticide liquid on the plants. Before spraying medicine on the plants, always read the medicine instructions.
  • Pruning & Cutting: For best growth, always prune the plants before the growing season. Cut the unwanted branches, dried leaves, and faded/dry flowers. If there is any leave or small branch on the root parts of the plants, then prune it. For pruning, use cutting tools.

Flowering Season: Within 3 to 4 months of plantation of seeds, flowers begin on the plants, and these flowers are red, blue, white, and yellow. Flower colours depend on the verities. Each flower has 5 petals with a different shade of centre part. Petals are soft with lite black lines and have lots of moisture.
