Grow Apricot: You Should Know This Trick | Benefits | Care

Apricot – Dry Fruit Plant

Apricot is one of the best dry fruits for health and it comes from the Rose family (Rosaceae). Apricot is the most common fruit and it is widely cultivated in the world. To be stupefied because it is similar to plum or peach with sweet. Apricot has lots of verities and as per verities, the origin is also different. Common verities like tomcot, goldbar, rival, perfection, and pui sha sin.

Physical View of Apricot: Apricot plants or trees grow up to 20 to 30 feet tall and trunk up to 12 to 15 inches in diameter. Leaves are an oval shape with grow up to 4 to 8 cm long and wide up to 2 inches long. Flowers are white to rosy colour and flowers give you pleasant smell. The best time for flowering is early spring.

Seedling Types

How to Propagate Seeds and Grafted Plant: Now we have 2 methods for seedling and propagation. One is by using seeds and another one is by the Grafted plant. In most cases, grafted plants give you results very fast and seeds may take more time. Take out the raw fruits and or dry fruits and break them and remove the seeds. Seeds are available inside the pods and remove properly. Seeds look like almonds shape and have similar tastes and shapes. Soil pH should be 5.5 to 6.5.

  • Now, wrap all the seeds with tissue paper or any soak paper and spray some water.
  • Within 2 days, germination starts from the seeds and the outer cell of the seeds will be removed.

Time to Prepare Soil Mixture: If soil is fitted for plants, then your plant’s health is going well and otherwise plants may die. Make your soil well drain and also remove unwanted materials from soil-like, small stones.  

  • Take out the normal garden soil (50%), coco-peat (30%), cow dung (20%), 50gm perlite, and 50 gm pesticide powder.
  • Mix it well until the soil becomes well-drained.
  • Fill the soil in a good container or any small flowerpot with good drainage holes.
  • Remove germinated seeds from wrapped paper.
  • Dig a hole 1 inch deep and plant it and cover it with soil (if seeds are too, then make holes more).
  • Place the pot in daylight or sunlight.

Within 10 to 15 days, germinated seeds are converted into small plants. If plants are growing up to 2 to 3 inches tall then we need to transplant them in any other pot.  

Transplanting: The best way for repotting is to take a large pot then set all the plants in one pot or container. The soil mixture should be rich in nutrients and well-drained. The root should not break when removing the plant from the old pot. Put the pot in full sunlight for at least 4 to 5 hours and after semi-shade.

How to Care Plants and Tree

Watering: Apricot plants need moderate watering in the summer and winter seasons. If soil is clammy then different types of diseases occur like root diseases, fungus. The best way for watering is to use a watering pot like a spray gun, water tank (storage up to 10 liters).

Well Temperature: Temperature is one of the important factors when you are planting any plants. If the temperature is well then, your plant’s health should be well but the temperature is not meet the temperature criteria so always put the plants in full daylight condition for at least 4 to 5 hours. Apricot plants are sweetly growing in full sunlight. In the winter season, keep all the plants in full daylight condition.

Diseases: Diseases ensue, when you are given too much water, don’t spray insecticide spray (time to time). So always use insecticide and pesticide liquid with water. Straw this liquid in whole plants as well as trees.

Good Nutrients: Plants and trees need well nutrients. Apricot plants need vermicompost, organic vegetable compost, cow dung, NPK. NPK fertilizer is best in the summer season and others are in any season. These all compost are easily available in the online market or nearby plant nurseries.

Best Time for Pruning: Pruning is well during the spring or fall season. Pruning is necessary for balancing the plant’s height or plants or trees look beautiful. Cut out the faded leaves, flowers, branches, and burn fruits. For pruning, use cutting tools.
