About Pear: Pear fruit is one of the sweetest fruits in the family of Rosaceae. Pears have 2500+ types of verities, but common verities are Bosc pear, D’Anjou, Williams, and Clapp’s favourite. The sweetest verity is D’Anjou, which is easily available in fruit shops. Over time, the pear tree grows up to 30 to 50 feet.

How to Plant Seeds in Flowerpot: There are two methods for plantation, one is by using seeds, and the other is cutting. Most of the time cutting method fails; that’s why we will use the seeds method. Take one ripe pear and remove all seeds. Remove the shining part from the seeds and keep the seeds in water (2 days). Within two days, seeds will germinate.

Prepare a Soil Potting & Planting :

  • For making a soil mixture, take well-drained garden soil (50%) and cocopeat (50%).
  • Mix it well and take a small flower pot (2 to 3 inches with a depth of 4 inches).
  • Fill the soil mixture into the flower pot.
  • Take out the germinating seeds, dig a hole 1 inch into the soil mixture, and put the seeds into those holes.
  • Cover the rooting part with soil mixture (germinate part should appear).
  •  Give some water and keep the plants in an indoor location (until germination of new leaves)
  • Within 5 to 8 days, new leaves and branches appear from the germinated plants.

After 20 to 25 days, plants grow up to 6 to 8 inches with 15 to 20 leaves. If plants grow up to 6 to 8 inches, it’s time to transplant them with another flower pot. For the best result, choose the ground site.

Remember: USDA hardiness zone should be 4-8 and the soil mixture should be slightly acidic to neutral. In a flowerpot, make sure drainage holes are available or not. If there are no holes at the surface, then make 5 to 9 holes (Drainage holes are necessary). Cover the holes with a grenade or stones. Use clay flowerpot. The distance between the seeds should be 1 to 2 inches.

How to Transplant: If you have sown more than 6+ seeds in a single flower pot, we need to transplant them with a separate flower pot. While transplantation, use garden soil (30%), cocopeat (40%), cow dung (20%), and perlite (10%). Mix it well and take a large flower pot (10 to 15 inches with 6 inches depth). Mix it well.

  • Remove all the plants from the old flower pot.
  • Fill the soil mixture into a flowerpot, dig a hole (4 inches deep), and put the plants into those holes.
  • Cover the rooting part with soil mixture and place the plants in full sunlight.

Top 4 Caring Tips

  • Watering: Don’t give water until the germination of seeds and after transplantation, give water properly. Always maintain moisture in the soil potting.
  • Temperature: To keep the plants in full sunlight or maintain the temperature between 15°C to 30°C. Save the plants from high temperatures (above 35°C) or heavy rain.
  • Pruning & Cutting: pruning is necessary before the growing season, or if you want to prune the plants, then August or October is the right time for pruning. Cut the faded flowers and dry leaves and head of stems.
  • Best Fertilizer: NPK 20-20-20 is the best fertilizer for pear plants. Fertilization is necessary before the growing season.

Bloom Time: After 3 to 4 years of plantation, flowering starts on the plants. Flowers are white in colour and grow up to 4 to 6 cm long. Each flower has five petals with a dark yellow shade.

Season of Fruits: After 4 to 5 years of plantation, the fruit begins, and fruits take 12 to 15 months to ripen. Fruits are green in colour and sizes grow up to 4 to 6 inches with a round shape.
