About Guava: Guava is a fruitful tree, and guava is easily available all the season. There are many varieties of this fruit, and it contains many types of protein, vitamins and minerals, which are very beneficial for the health benefit. Guava is round-shaped in appearance, and its height grows up to 3 to 5 inches, or another variety of guava grows up to 4 to 8 inches maximum.
This fruit is green (raw) in colour or yellow (ripe) in appearance. The inner parts have lots of seeds, and the seeds are edible. The internal parts are different in colour like some varieties have red with white and others have white with yellow (it depends on variety). The scientific name of guava is Psidium guajava, and it comes with the Myrtaceae family.
The leaves are dark green with a round shape, and the leaves grow up to 2 to 3 inches. Midribs are light white in colour, and veins are dark green. Over time, the guava trees grow up to 30 to 50 feet tall and spread up to 15 to 20 feet. Verities of guava, Safed Jam, Dhareedar, Harijan, Chittidar, Khaja…Etc. Cultivators are also occurring in different cities or countries.
Perfect Way For Plantation: There are two ways to grow a plant, one is by using cutting, and the other is by using its seeds. In this post, we will learn how to sow guava seeds. You can buy the seeds from the online shop or plant nursery or cut the guava and take out the seeds. Put the seeds in water for 2 to 3 hours.
Prepare a Soil Potting & Planting
For making the best soil potting, take well-drained garden soil (35%), compost (35%), and peat moss. Mix it well and take a 3 to 5 inches clay pot or ceramic pot. Fill the soil mixture into the flower pot, take out guava seeds, put the seeds over the soil, and cover the seed with the soil mixture.
After all, give water properly and place the pot in sunlight. Germination takes more time (germination depends on verity). Within 40 to 45 days, germination starts from the seeds, and tiny leaves and branches appear from the seeds. If you have sown ten seeds, only 4 to 5 seeds are germinating.
How To Transplant: Transplantation is easy. If the plants grow up to 3 to 4 inches, you can transplant them with a separate flower pot. Use garden soil (60%) with cow dung (40%). For best growth, keep the plants in full sunlight or semi-shaded area.
Remember :
- USDA hardiness zone should be 3 to 11.
- In a flowerpot, make sure drainage holes are available or not. If there are no drainage holes, then make 5 to 8 holes (it’s necessary for each pot).
- While soil is mixing, remove all the small stones and pebbles.
- Keep small stones or pebbles on top of the drainage holes.
- The distance of the seed should be 2 to 3 cm from another seed.
Flowering Time: Flowers start to bloom in the summer season, and these flowers are white in colour. Each flower has 4 to 6 petals, and the petal’s colours are also white. Flowers grow up to 1 to 2 inches maximum. The Center part of flowers depends on variety, and some varieties have a red centre part (Fibrous), and some have white.
Fruits season: After 2 to 3 months of flowering, fruits begin to appear from the flowers. In the beginning, these fruits are green in colour with a solid shape. Over time, these fruits begin to ripen and become edible. These fruits are sweet in taste and contain many types of proteins and vitamins.
