About Easter Lilies: Easter lilies are one of the best flowering plants because there are lots of flowers that bloom at a time with a fragrant smell. Easter lily has many varieties like white heaven, dealing, and trimphator. The scientific name is Lilium longiflorum, and it belongs to the Liliaceae family. Easter lilies are native to Japan.

Easter lilies grow up to 12 to 24 inches and spread 18 inches. Leaves are soft green with an oval shape and spread 2 inches. Flowers are blowpipe in shape and size and grow up to 2 inches.

How To Plant Bulbs at Home

One of the best methods to plant Easter lilies at home is using bulbs. Easter lilies bulbs are big (size up to 2 to 3 inches). If you purchased its bulbs online or local nursery, always check sprout part is available or not. If bulbs have no sprouting part, don’t buy them because sometimes they are not germinated.

Simplest Way To Prepare a Soil Mixture :

  • To make a soil potting, take well-drained garden soil (35%), vermicompost (35%), and sand (30%).
  • Mix it well and take a large flower pot.
  • Use a clay pot, and the size should be 12 to 18 inches (deep 6 to 8 inches) for the best result.
  • Fill the soil mixture into the flower pot and take out its bulbs.
  • Dig a hole 5 to 8 inches deep and put the bulbs into holes.
  • Cover the bulbs with the soil mixture
  • While planting bulbs, the germinated part should be up and visible
  • Give water properly.
  • Place the flower pot in the sunlight.

Before plantation: USDA hardiness zone required 3 to 8, and the soil mixture should be slightly acidic/ neutral. In a flower pot, make sure drainage holes are available at the bottom of the flower pot. If there are no drainage holes, make 5 to 9 holes(necessary).

Within 5 to 7 days, new leaves and branches appear from the bulbs, and the size of the leaves is growing up to 1 to 2 inches. Some verities take lots of time to germinate, so be patient. If you plant 3 to 5 bulbs in one flower pot, then we do not need a transplant.

Top 4 Caring Tips :

Watering: Keep moisture in the soil potting. Before germination, give water after 3 to 4 days and after germination, give water after 2 to 3 days. The summer season provides water properly but doesn’t overwater. The soil starts to rot, and the bulbs start melting by giving more water to the plant.

Temperature: For the best result, keep the plants in full sunlight (during the winter season) and Keep the plant in sunlight for 5 to 4 hours in the summer season, or you can maintain a temperature between 15°C to 25°C. Always save from high temperatures (above 25°C) and heavy rain.

The best fertilizer for flowering: there are lots of fertilizers for Easter lilies plants, but NPK and cow dung are the best fertilizers. If flowers are not blooming on the plant, then give NPK 19-19-19 in the plants. Give fertilizer after 30 to 40 days, and after fertilizer, give water properly (By adding water immediately to the soil, the compost gets mixed up with the soil, and the plants start growing quickly.

Bloom Season: Flowers start blooming on the plant in the summer season(May or August) or after plantation (within 2 to 3 months). Lots of flowers bloom at a time. Each stem has 5 to 7 flowers. Flowers are white, pink, yellow, reddish, and white with red. Flowers spread up to 1 to 2 inches. Each flower has 5 to 6 petals. The centre part is different from the flower’s colour.

Poisonous: Easter lilies have toxic properties, so keep pets (Dogs and Cats) away from the plants.
